Qualifying Connections
To be married at St. John the Divine, ONE of the sentences below MUST apply:
Either,
one of you:
- was baptised at the church of St. John the Divine or
- was prepared for confirmation in the parish of St. John the Divine or
- has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
- has at any time regularly gone to normal church services at St. John the Divine for a
period of at least 6 months.
Or,
one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
- has lived in the parish of St. John the Divine for a period of at least 6 months or
- has regularly gone to normal church services at St. John the Divine for a period of at least 6
months or - That one of your parents or grandparents was married in the parish of St. John the Divine
Banns
Unless you have a Common Licence or an Archbishop’s Special Licence, it is a legal requirement to have Banns read three times before you get married. If you are getting married at St. Johns this will be arranged when you see the Parish Administrator. If you live in our parish but are getting married at another church, you will need to see the Parish Administrator to arrange for this to be done.
